Nikki Marie Mettlin, 23, of Waterloo died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo on August 10, 2009. She was born on May 22, 1986 in Waterloo, the daughter of Karen and William Mettlin, Jr. She was baptized at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She grew up in Waterloo and Reinbeck and graduated from Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School. Nikki furthered her education at Wartburg College in Waverly, receiving a degree in Social Work. She was currently working as a Youth Counselor at Four Oaks in Waterloo and part-time at Taco John's in Cedar Falls. Nikki loved working with the clients at Four Oaks. She also enjoyed traveling, music, going to concerts, shopping and her dog, Riley. Most of all, she loved spending time with her friends and family.
Nikki is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Wintfred Reeves; maternal great-grandparents, James and Ollie Reeves and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother, Karen Mettlin (Matt Stokes) of Waterloo; father, William, Jr. (Tammie) Mettlin of Hudson; siblings, Kerrie Jo (Ryan) Johnston of Marshalltown, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Kristin, Jordan and Kara Mettlin of Hudson, Charlie, Jesi and Wyatt Mettlin of Waterloo, and Wesley Stokes of Waterloo; maternal grandmother, Evelyn (Fred) Reeves of Waterloo; paternal grandparents, Eleanor McGowan of Waterloo, William, Sr. and Connie Mettlin and Bob and Sandy Messerer of Waterloo, aunts and uncles, Godparents, and numerous cousins. Visitation was at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories on August 13. Service was held at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church on August 14, at 10:00 AM. Burial was at Garden of Memories in Waterloo.
