Lavonne Marie Schroeder, 85, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo from complications of a stroke while under Hospice care. There was no visitation. A memorial service was held March 12 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Boyce officiating. Burial was in the Reinbeck Cemetery.
Lavonne was born September 6, 1926, in Reinbeck to James Henry and Ida Katherine (Sweerin) Ritchey. She graduated from Reinbeck High School with the class of 1945. She married Herbert W. Schroeder on January 10, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was employed at Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo for many years. After leaving there, she worked at nursing homes in the Independence area as an aide. After moving to Sumner, she worked as an aide at the Sumner nursing home until her retirement. After moving back to Reinbeck, she was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. While a resident of Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, she was always visiting with the other residents and staff.
Lavonne is survived by a sister, Audrey Schneider of Reinbeck; three nephews, Carl, Kent and Lynn Schneider; two nieces, Wanda Dreier and Gayle (Dan) Webb; two great nephews and one great niece.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her son James in 1989, her husband in 1992; and a sister, Marqueret (Harry) Dreier in 2000.
Memorials should be directed to the family. French-Hand was in charge of arrangements.
