APRIL 11, 2002

Norman Beu will campaign for Grundy Co. Supervisors.

Chuck Freitag, local artist, has donated 4 framed prints to Parkview Manor.

Valerie Jenkins and Sandy Foster announce their engagement and upcoming wedding on June 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Melford, Iowa.

Angie Peters & Matthew Buttjer are planning a July 20 wedding at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eldora.

Beth Hamer & John Thorpe were married Dec. 28 in Sapulpa, Okla.

Carolyn Klatt is employee of the month at Parkview Manor. She has been employed there for almost 24 years.

Funeral services were held on April 10 for Ann Louise Harms, 92, Reinbeck, formerly of Charles City.

Virgil Creswell, 91, died April 3 at Covenant Medical Center.

Janet M. Smith, 60, Rochester, Minn. died March 26.

Marvin Stahl, 65, Wellsburg 26, died April 8 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

Teri Rokusek was selected for 2001-2002 Contemporary School Leadership program.

Jason Staker, Reinbeck, has been named a United States National Award winner in science, band, character and citizenship. This is a prestigious award honor that very few students can ever hope to attain.

Ian McGrady-Beach and Kay Hansen have been awarded Z.Z. White Leadership Scholarship from Buena Vista University.


APRIL 23, 1992

Daniel Dietsh, 44, Conrad died after a boom he was operating came in contact with an overhead power line and he was electrocuted. Services were held on April 20.

Services for Marcella Lynn, 77, Grundy Center, were held April 20 at the First Presbyterian Church.

Services for Gloria Miller, 51, Grundy Center, were held on April 20 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Hilda Thede, Reinbeck, celebrated her 90th birthday. Her son, Dr. Norman Thede, sent her 90 long stemmed roses for the occasion.


APRIL 29, 1982

Fred Willer, Reinbeck, wins $400 bankroll at Ernie's Super Valu.

Valerie Greiner, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Greiner of Reinbeck, has been named 1982 Iowa Pony of America Club Queen.

Installation crews under contract with Reinbeck Cablevision will begin installing cable television lines during May.

Lori Winterroth and Michael Harris announce their upcoming wedding date set for June 19.

Joyce Block and Tracy Crocker plan wedding for late fall.

Melissa Hummel and Melvin Sweerin were united in marriage on April 17.

Michi Bragg, Hudson & Russell Rees of Tulsa, Okla. were married on April 24.

Marion Robertson spent 4 days in Washington, D.C. doing legislative work for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Paul Robinson died April 5 at Oakleaf Country Club.

Mr. & Mrs. Ken Roberts, owners of Ken's Pastry Shop are announcing the opening of a new snack bar at their bakery.

Dean Thede & Roger Harms both of Reinbeck, are remodeling the former Lonergan Drug bldg. and plan to convert into a tavern.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Clapp are parents of a daughter born April 25.

Joseph Vorba, 53, died of a heart attack at his home on April 23.


APRIL, 1962

John Morrow, 80, died at the Grundy Hospital on April 24.

Kate Runft, 77, died April 23 at Allen Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gillespie, Waterloo, are parents of a son born April 21.


APRIL, 1952

Bonacker Super Valu celebrates its 15th anniversary with more than 700 people registering for free groceries.

James Dinsdale, 83, died April 23.

Mr. & Mrs. Sandy Spiers, Dinsdale, are parents of a son born April 23.

Mr. & Mrs. Harold Wieben are parents of a son born April 19.

Mr. & Mrs. Leo Barfels, Lincoln, are parents of a daughter born April 20.

Betty Lauterbach of Cedar Falls and Phillip O'Brien were married April 19.


Hertha Wrage, Reinbeck, became the bride of Kenneth Liscum, Waterloo on April 18.

Jane Wilson, Cedar Falls and Claude Smith, Jr., formerly of Reinbeck, were married on Jan. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Carl Bern will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 27.

Herman Ragsdale, 32, died at the State Sanitarium on April 18 at Oakdale.

Kenneth Moye and Don Palmer have applied to enlist in the Coast Guard.
