Gladbrook-Reinbeck homecoming this year was different than any other homecoming because I knew it was my last. It was surreal to see my classmates being voted onto homecoming court, and have Emily Snider and Joseph Zimmerman voted homecoming queen and king.
The dress up days throughout the week turned out to be: Movie Character Day, Gangsta Day, Twin Day, Retro Day, then we finished off the week with Spirit Day.
"I thought it was a good way to get people to show their school spirit and have some fun in the process," said junior, Tyler Wrage, about homecoming week.

Every day was interesting, with all of the costumes that were walking through the hallways, and also outside of school when people would keep their costumes on throughout the day. High school students never seem to run out of ideas for their homecoming days.
Powderpuff this year was extremely different. My team finally had the advantage. Seeing the juniors struggle, as we had last year, definitely made us realize why we decided to do Powderpuff again.
"It was fun being able to be together as a class for one of the last times," said Kayla Fobian, a senior at G-R, about playing Powderpuff football.
With all the cheering and the yelling, it was somehow extremely fun. After forty grueling minutes, the senior team left the field with a 42 - 14 win.
After the game, we all left the beautiful weather to file into the high school gym, where the G-R band was entertaining. The cheerleaders, and their young cheerleading camp girls started us off with a few peppy cheers, and the school song where everyone stood up and clapped along. This was all followed by a few of the senior parents' skit. The skit was based around 'Crashing the Comets' that was the homecoming week theme, because we played the BCL-UW Comets. The skit was clever, and completely entertaining, especially after seeing the seniors' faces when their parents started dancing. After the skit, and a few more stunts from the cheerleaders, the night had finally come to the point we had all been waiting for; announcing the king and queen. After announcing all of the homecoming court candidates, and the winners from last year, they finally announced the king and queen. Emily and Joseph looked nothing less than completely excited, as they were handed their crowns. Emily Stoakes and Brady Billerbeck, last year's queen and king, also looked happy, even as they had to hand over their crowns, they hugged Emily and Joseph. After the school song concluded the Happenings, everyone filed over to get their picture with the new royalty.
Then on Friday, it was the football players' time to shine, and they crushed the BCL-UW Comets, with a score of 35 20.
