A few days ago, I have received a flyer from the Republican Party of Iowa regarding Steve King's aspirations to become a Representative for the 4th voting district. A core statement made on the flyer: "Millions of dollars will be spend this year by Christie Vilsack and Nancy Pelosi on dishonest attacks against Steve King."
To address the flyer's claim, let's review King's voting record in Congress:
King voted to defund Planned Parenthood, redefine rape and reduce domestic violence protections for women. King accepted five pay raises for himself while voting down a bonus for soldiers.
King voted for the Ryan Budget, which includes cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and programs that help low-income Iowans survive.
When it was time to vote on a resolution acknowledging the input that slave labor played in the construction of the United States Capitol, the vote was 399-1, with King as the sole "nay" vote.
More disturbing, he's still misrepresenting Iowans today. As I write this letter, King is holding back progress on drought relief for Iowa farmers because he insists on cutting nutritional programs for low-income families.
It would seem King isn't the victim of dishonest attacks, but he's being held accountable for his own record.
