Pioneer donates to Reinbeck Fire Department

October 7, 2012
Reinbeck Courier

This grant is awarded in support of a new Grain Bin Engulfment Rescue Tube from KCSupply. Rural Fire Departments across the U.S. have seen an increase in response to Grain Bin rescue incidents with entrapped and engulfed victims as a result of flowing columns of grain and grain avalanche emergencies.

The Grain Bin Engulfment Rescue Tube is a simple & effective approach to assist in providing limited rescue protection to a partially entrapped victim to increase the likelihood of safe extrication. It is designed to act as a grain containment barrier or temporary wall around the partially engulfed victim, if a portion of the victim is above the grain and if the grain surrounding the victim is higher than the exposed portion. It is designed to stop the flow of the grain toward the victim and block any additional pressure that may be created from rescuers. The Rescue Tube consists of 4 locking structural aluminum panels designed specifically for these types of rescues. Once in place, the now limited amount of grain inside the tube is removed or vacuumed out to free the victim. External and internal handles allow rescuers to provide aid while maintaining contact with the victim. The handles inside the tube can be used at tie off points to assist the victim & rescuers while inside the tube.

This grant money is funded by the DuPont Pioneer Giving Program. DuPont Pioneer is committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities where its customers and employees live and work.
