REINBECK - West Marshall did its best to adjust on the fly after losing a starter to a pregame injury, fighting past Gladbrook-Reinbeck (11-14, 2-4) in four sets Tuesday in NICL West play.

The Trojans (17-10, 5-1) lost senior middle hitter Sydney Beals to an ankle injury prior to the match but still prevailed 25-13, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22.

Whitney Benson and McKenna Hotopp shared the lead in a balanced West Marshall attack, both collecting 10 kills. Kaitlyn Nichols added nine kills and Kelsiann Halbloom had eight. Setter Alarie Craven totaled 36 assists.

Jenn Davis, inserted into the starting lineup, led the Trojans with two blocks. Clair Underwood and Hotopp both had 13 digs and Benson added nine digs and one block. Halbloom served 27-for-27 with four aces and Craven went 26-for-26 with three aces.

West Marshall hosts Hudson on Thursday in cross-NICL play. Both the Trojans and Rebels go to the BCLUW Tournament on Saturday.
