Wade VanHauen of PCI receives Outstanding Fleet Maintenance Professional Award.

Lincoln Savings Bank celebrated 100 years of service on Friday Sept. 13 with open houses held at all of their locations.

Amy Riley & Ross Thede will be married Oct. 19 at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.

Holly Witt & Christopher Cleghorn plan an Oct. 29 wedding at Sanibel Island, Fla.

Mr. & Mrs. Paul Plaehn will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Pat Brown are parents of a daughter born Sept. 24.

Rebecca Mitchell, 50, died Sept. 24 at Covenant Medical Center.

George S. Addison, 97, Traer, died Sept. 15 at Covenant Medical Center.

Vernie Joyce, 97, Grundy Center, died Sept. 29 at Allen Hospital.


OCTOBER 8, 1992

Mr. & Mrs. Iner Larsen celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10 with an open house and dance at the Memorial Bldg.

Malissa Schildroth & Matthew Martin were united in marriage on Sept. 5 at the United Methodist Church.

Karen Folkerts & Bruce Burns plan wedding for Nov. 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Mussing, Gladbrook, will observe their 55th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10.

Melanie McIntyre was honored for her 9 years of 4-H involvement.

Services for Reid French, formerly of Reinbeck, were held Oct. 3.

Country Closet will move across the street to the corner of Blackhawk and Main Street.


OCT. 14, 1982

David Petersen, Reinbeck, won $400 in first week of bankroll drawing at Ernie's Super Valu.

Ingrid Kettman, Hudson, and Brent Coulter, Reinbeck, were married on Oct. 1.

Lori Lorenzen, Clear Lake & Bruce Flatness, Mason City, were united in marriage on Sept. 4.

Lawrence Cheeseman, 74, Reinbeck, died Oct. 12 at Sartori Hospital. Services were held Oct. 15 at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.

Laura Tedore, 62, Cedar Falls, died Sept. 9 at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo.

William Schmoranc, 82, Morrison, died Oct. 7 at Parkview with services held on Oct. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Mike Bowen are parents of a daughter born Oct. 10.


OCT. 12, 1972

Donna Bean died Oct. 8 at her home of cancer.

Mr. & Mrs Thomas Byrnes are parents of a daughter born Oct. 2.

Betsy Pickering and Steve Bartusch were married Sept. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Wittgreve, Ames, are parents of a son born Oct. 6.

Vicki Salisburg & Allan Bolin were married Oct. 2 in Waverly.

Joyce Noltensmeier, Terri Rickert, Deb Sharp and Rita Blohm have been selected as 1972 Homecoming Queen candidates.


Oct. 1, 1962

Reinbeck Town Council purchased a new 1963 chevy 2 door sedan as a police car.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Craig purchased the Alfrieda Lorenz residence in west Reinbeck.


OCT. 1952

Elmer Hirsch residence in west Reinbeck was sold to Fred Rasmussen for $4,500.

Elmer Gauger sold the Windsor Hotel building to W.J. Hulme for $8,500.

Mr. & Mrs. Vic Johnson of Buckingham are parents of a daughter born Oct. 7.


OCT. 1942

Alfred "Buzz" Plaehn who has been teaching in California has joined the Navy as a first Lieutenant.

John Saul, a PVT with the armed Guard Unit was injured while trying to defuse a shell.

Mr. & Mrs. Wilbur Vest, Dinsdale, are parents of a son.

Liet Rex A. Shirk, Grundy Center, an air pilot, was the first war casualty of Grundy County.

Leonard Norris lost several 140 lbs. pigs to salt poisoning.
