Reinbeck gets 2002 holiday season underway with Miracle on Main on Friday & Saturday, Nov. 8th & 9th.

Grundy Co. Supervisors approve mold testing.

Mr. & Mrs. Lutjen Beenken will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 27 with an open house at the Memorial Bldg.

Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Wrage will celebrate 55 years of marriage on Oct. 22.

Peggy Freese, 58, Dike, died Oct. 19 at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls.

Ruth Groenewald, 90, Grundy Center, died Oct. 11 at the Grundy Care Center.


OCT. 22, 1992

Lee Thede, son of Mr. & Mrs. Allan Thede, graduated Sept. 17 from basic training at Fort Jackson, N.C.

Grace Woosley, 71, Reinbeck, died at Allen Hospital on Oct. 14.

Iva June Vokum, died Oct. 16 at Covenant Medical Center.

Deborah Koht and Bradley Greiner were married on Sept. 4.

Angela Smith & Eugene R. Sorrell were married on June 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Chris Wagner, Fort Polk, La. are parents of a daughter born Oct. 9.

Mr. & Mrs. Roger Sager, Reinbeck, are parents of twin girls, born Oct. 18.


OCT. 28, 1982

Much of Iowa enjoyed its first snow of the season beginning late on Oct. 20 and continued until early Thursday a.m.

Mrs. LeRoy Block was a $400 winner in the Bankroll at Ernie's Super Valu.

Fire destroyed a large corn crib, tractor and wagon and several 100 bushels of ear corn on the Verne & Ralph Knaack farm northeast of Reinbeck.

Mr. & Mrs. John Syster, Ormond Beach, Fla. are parents of a daughter born Oct. 15.

Mr. & Mrs. David Stoakes are parents of a daughter born Oct. 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Cooper, Jr., Gladbrook, are parents of a son born Sept. 7.

Elmer Schreck, 74, Reinbeck, died Oct. 23 at his home.

Pearl Springer, 80, Reinbeck, died Oct. 25. Services were held on Oct. 27.

Marion Stumm, 77, Reinbeck, died Oct. 22 at Parkview Manor.

Gus DeLange, 66, Grundy Center, died on Oct. 25 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.


OCT. 26, 1972

Terri Rickert was crowned 1972 Homecoming Queen.

Marci Billerbeck was the Big Max Pumpkin contest winner. Her pumpkin weighed 117 lbs.

Mr. & Mrs. Tom Dunham will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Oct. 29 with an open house. They were married Oct. 26 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Mr. & Mrs. William Workman are parents of a son born Oct. 19.

Carol DeWolf, 68, Reinbeck, died Oct. 22 at Parkview Manor.


OCT. 1962

Bill Clausman, Reinbeck, and his party of hunters shot a bull moose with a 60 inch rack and weighed 1,800 lbs near Red Lake in Canada.

Bill Boswell's house in Juhl addition was sold to Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hoeppner for $13,500.

L & M Services installed a new 100 ft. Clay automatic 3-way feeder on the Harry Green farm east of Reinbeck.

The Ohrt family store operated by Alvin Ohrt of Dinsdale is now open in the former Coffman Grocery Store on Main St.

Mr. & Mrs. Lester Kohl observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 21.

Mr. & Mrs. Dean Warren, Gladbrook, are parents of a son born Oct. 16.

Mr. & Mrs. John Homa, Waco, Texas are parents of a son born Oct. 17.


OCT. 1952

Mr. & Mrs. Don Watson are parents of a daughter born Oct. 18.

Dr. F.S. Beckman, 71, retired Grundy Center dentist, died Oct. 20 at his home.


OCT. 1942

Melvin Simonsen received 11 carloads of cattle totaling 466 head and Wm. Sprole received 200 head this week.

Wilbur Plager had his left hand and forearm taken off while combining soybeans.

Robert Ingamells, 18, north of Traer, caught his hand in a corn picker. It was quite badly mangled.

Mr. & Mrs. Delmar Ritchey and daughter arrived back in Reinbeck from Calif. Delmar was a painter in the shipyards.

Mr. & Mrs. Roger Rickert, LaPorte City, are parents of a daughter born Oct. 20.

Mr. & Mrs. B. Lyle Robinson are parents of a son born Oct. 20.

Joanne Moore, Hudson, & Charles Plaehn, Reinbeck, were married on Oct. 17.
