4-H Camera Corps Exhibit

November 4, 2012
Reinbeck Courier

Sadie Brockett was recently honored to have three photos chosen for display in a 4-H Camera Corps Photo Gallery Exhibit in West Des Moines. The exhibit is on display at the St. Mark Lutheran Church Gallery in West Des Moines. Sadie was invited and able to attend the opening reception on Saturday, October 6th. The St. Mark Gallery is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and photos were on display until October 26th. 4-H Camera Corps is an annual photography challenge for 4-H from across the state to take photos centered around a theme chosen for the year. Photos are submitted several times throughout the year. The 2011-2012 theme was "American Life." They are encouraged to find opportunities for photos reflecting this theme in their everyday surroundings. There was also a seminar held in June to allow participants to learn more about photojournalism and to meet and learn more about what makes good photos from Tim Florer, an accomplished photographer who documents rural life through his photos. Also this year, participants were given the opportunity to attend and take photos at the Iowa State Fair because much of the State Fair experience fits well with the "American Life" theme. To recognize the efforts of the 4-H Camera Corps members, 45 photos were chosen from the hundreds submitted to be professionally printed, matted & framed for display. Sadie was surprised and excited to have three of her submitted photos chosen for the display. Sadie is the daughter of Rod & Mardel Brockett of Reinbeck, and is a 7th grade student in the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Middle School. All of the photos chosen can be seen on the following website:
