Friday night in Conrad the Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls played their third conference game. They came into the game with 1-4 record, but a lot of fight still left in them. Their three-pointers were falling better and they finished the game with 8. Erin Wentzien and Emily Snider led the three-pointers with three each. After them, Bailea Evenson and Nicole Adair both had one each. The Rebels also were able to turn the Comets over continuously. 19 was the number of steals that the team had all together lead by Emily Snider (5), Amber Berendes (3), and Erin Wentzien (3).

A big thing that they Rebels were able to avoid was getting behind early in the game. They were able to end the first quarter with a 17-10 lead on the Comets. Having the lead with such young players enabled the Rebels to get into their offense and avoid hurrying their shots. The Rebels went into the locker room at halftime with a 30-25 lead, but also facing some foul trouble. Coach Bailey informed his players that if they played the same way or better the second half they would get the win.

The Rebels came out of the locker room for the third quarter a little slow. The Comets were able to outscore them by one point in the third quarter. Luckily, the Rebels got their mojo back just in time to get some important steals and make some free throws. The Rebels were able to score 63 points to top BCLUW's 57. The leaders for the Rebels were Emily Snider (22), Erin Wentzien (16), Nicole Adair (6), Britney Keller (4), Amber Berendes (4), Ellie Stoakes (4) and Hayley Weber (4).

After the game Coach Bailey said, "I thought we ran our style of basketball pretty well, we achieved four out of five of our goals, and shot a better percentage. It still isn't where we want it, but it's better." For this upcoming week of NICL-West Conference play he said, "We need to continue to work on our shooting and offensive rebounding. Just trying to get better everyday in every aspect of the game."

Getting this win was crucial for the young Rebels to boost their confidence for a tough upcoming week ahead. The Rebels will take on Grundy Center Tuesday and West Marshall on Friday.
