The Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on January 13th and the roll call was say what you enjoyed over Christmas break.
Joshua Saak was elected to be the new secretary. We discussed and decided that we will be selling Younker's Day coupons again this year on March 1st and 2nd 2013. There was a sign-up for presentations and a thank you project. We discussed doing another club skit at the fair and there was a sign-up sheet for participating in it. Malissa reminded members that there will be FSQA (Food Safety Quality Assurance) classes offered at the Hawkeye Community Center on February 18th at 6:30 p.m., February 23rd at 9:30 a.m. and April 27th at 9:30 a.m. This class is required to show most animals at the fair. It was noted that the March meeting, scheduled for March 17th, is also the same day as the omelet breakfast.
Audrey Leyen and Sadie Brockett did a presentation on how to make oreo balls. Malissa Martin talked about the 4-H program and many of the ways for members to be involved. There are many opportunities for different areas of interest. Then she gave us cupcakes made from a unique and really simple recipe.
Our next meeting will be on Sunday, February 10th at 5:00 at the Reinbeck Elementary building.
