The girls track team traveled to Hudson on Monday. Yet again, the weather was a factor for everyone involved. It was another cool, blustery day. The Rebels faced some of the toughest competition of the year. Benton Community won the meet with 97 points in the 23 team field. As always, the NICL put 4 teams in the top 10 of the competition, with Dike New Hartford finishing runnerup, Hudson finishing fourth, Aplington Parkersburg finishing 6th and Union finishing 7th.
The Rebels showing improvement in the field events. Jamie Worrell improved in the shot put with a throw of 21'6". Shalyn Johnston threw 25'4" as well. Ellie Stoakes placed 8th in the 400M dash with a time of 1:09. Ellie also ran 29.56 in the 200M dash.
We are looking for more improvement this week from the girls. They have shown a lot of determination in practice and now we need to compete. It has been very challenging for this group to get everyone healthy, but hopefully we can get back to some normalcy this week.

Boys Track Results
The boys track team ventured north and west to Hampton on Monday. Like the girls, they found the weather to be a factor in the competition. Hampton Dumont won the meet with 99 points. Clear Lake finished runnerup. The Rebels finished 10th overall.
Zach Pierce placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 42'5.75". Joe Zimmerman placed 6th in the discus with a throw of 107'6". Tyler Bovy finished 4th in the 3200M with a time of 11:25. Eric Stoakes placed 2nd in the 400M dash with a time of 53.77, while Wyatt Swanson finished 4th with 56.22. The 4x400 team of Chase Clark, Jackson Clark, Eric Stoakes and Trevor Trunck finished 2nd with a time of 3:44.63.
The throwing events are becoming more and more consistent each week. We expect those events to continue to improve. We have been a little bit sporadic in the jumping events, but hopefully that levels out this week. The middle distance running events continue to be our strength. We will continue to fine tune those events as we head into the homestretch of the season.
Both teams have a busy week ahead with 4 meets in 5 days, weather permitting. The boys and girls both travel to Oelwein on Monday and Parkersburg on Tuesday. Thursday, the girls go to Grundy Center while the boys go back to Parkersburg. And Friday, the boys go to Dike while the girls travel to La Porte City.
