Artists announced for second annual Reinbeck Art Festival

August 25, 2013
Reinbeck Courier

The Second Annual Reinbeck Art Festival will feature the work of thirty-four juried artists in downtown Reinbeck on Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at both indoor and outdoor locations. It is free to the public.

This hometown juried art festival is walkable and will feature a variety of media, including ceramics, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, prints, sculpture, watercolor and wood. There are children's art activities and special music performances planned to round out the day. The downtown businesses will welcome festival patrons. Becktoberfest at Broad Street Brewing Company featuring live music and a Volksmarch (a form of non-competitive fitness walking) are other fun events going on in Reinbeck the same day.

Charles Freitag, the nationally known artist and Reinbeck native will showcase his work. In describing his work, his website says, "Charles' work is inspired by his favorite illustrator, Norman Rockwell. That inspiration can be seen in his paintings, with his meticulous attention to detail, and the subtle composition and coloring of all the facets of the painting." Popular subjects include tractors and life on the farm.

The Reinbeck Community Development Board and our business sponsors are proud to encourage appreciation of the arts in the community by providing the Reinbeck Art Festival event, a day to see and buy high-quality work, enjoy music, keep the kids busy with children's art activities, and support art in the community in a highly visible way.

The Reinbeck Art Festival is supported in part by a grant from the Grundy County Community Foundation -General Fund, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.
