FIRE PREVENTION REMINDERS:
Members of Reinbeck Fire Rescue are urging Reinbeck residents to take time to focus on Fire Prevention in your home. The 2013 Fire Prevention Week theme during October 6 -12 focuses on Prevent Kitchen Fires. Reinbeck Fire & Rescue wants to remind the citizens of Reinbeck of the importance of Fire Safety Education.
You can help protect yourself, your home & family by taking some basic fire precautions.
The reality is that when fire strikes, your home could be engulfed in smoke and flames in just a few minutes. It is important to have a home fire escape plan that prepares your family to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds. What if your first escape route is blocked by smoke or flames? That's why having two ways out is such a key part of your plan. This year's theme,"Have 2 Ways Out!", focuses on the importance of fire escape planning and practice. Do you have at least one smoke alarm on each level of your home? Are they adequately spaced around bedrooms & sleeping areas?
Have you checked your smoke detectors & alarms & test them monthly?
During winter months, keep space heaters 3' away from items that can burn.
Keep matches out of reach of children. Store in locked cabinets if needed.
Do you have a home fire escape plan and do you practice it?
