The Iowa Artists Annual Area 7 Art Show will be held Saturday, March 22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Denver Public Library, 100 Washington St. Denver, Iowa. The show is open to artists in "area 7" which includes Butler, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Grundy, Tama, and Benton counties. Artists must be 18 or older and members of Iowa Artists. Winners in this show will go on to the state show. Both 2 and 3 dimensional works will be accepted. Two dimensional works include paintings and drawings in oil, pastel, watercolor, ink, pencil, charcoal or collage. Three dimensional works include ceramics, sculptures, fibers, textiles, and jewelry. All works must be original. No copies, kits, or crafts will be accepted/judged. The maximum measurement allowed for painting/drawings is 4 feet including the frame. All pictures must be hung using a wire. (No saw tooth hangers will be accepted). Entries must be delivered to the Denver Library in the week before the show. The public is invited to view the show and refreshments will be served.
This year's show will be juried by Mr. Darrell Taylor. Taylor is the Director of the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Gallery of Art and Overseer of the UNI Permanent Art Collection. He has taught at UNI as an adjunct instructor in art. He is an intermedia artist with B.F.A., M.A., and M.F.A. degrees from the University of Iowa. His work has been presented nationally and internationally and involves multi-layered narratives, references to the figure, and printed imagery from the history of art and popular culture. In addition to judging the show, Mr. Taylor will do a demonstration of his art from 10:15 until noon.
