Brad Anderson was one of seven candidates or representatives from state and national campaigns who attended the Grundy County Democratic Soup Supper/Fundraiser on Sunday, February 9 at the Reinbeck Memorial Building. Brad is running for Secretary of State. Others attending were Sherrie Taha, candidate for Secretary of State, Jonathan Neiderbach candidate for State Auditor and Jonathan Narcisse a candidate for Governor. Bob Krause spoke on behalf of gubernatorial candidate Jack Hatch.
Bob had previously been in the running for governor but dropped his bid in favor of supporting Hatch and running in 2016 for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Charles Grassley. Campaign representatives were present for Bruce Braley who is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Tom Harkin and Jim Mowerer who is running for the 4th District seat currently occupied by Rep. Steve King. Also in attendance was Iowa Senator from District 36, Steve Sodders. He gave an update on happening in the Iowa Senate.
Overall discussion included issues with fighting voter suppression, ways of making the state government more cost-effective, expanding pubic education and raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.
