The Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation is in its eighth year of awarding Health Care Career Scholarships to students pursuing careers in the health care field. More than thirty students have received the awards. The deadline for applying for the 2014 scholarships is May 31, 2014. Nine scholarships will be awarded to students who will be the future nurses, radiologic technologists, lab technicians, physician assistants and therapists serving area communities. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500 each.
The scholarships are made available through the generosity of Sara Lee Yoder, who provided funds to the hospital upon her death in 2008, and by the family of Don Kliebenstein, longtime Grundy Center attorney who served on the hospital Foundation board, as well as by Irene Stout, a current Foundation board member. In addition, the GCMH Foundation sponsors a scholarship luncheon and card party each year to raise funds for the scholarship account. This year's event takes place on Thursday, April 24 at the Oakleaf Golf Course, rural Reinbeck, and is open to the public. Reservations may be made by contacting the Foundation office, Grundy County Memorial Hospital, at 319-824-4152.
Applications for the 2014 Health Care Career Scholarships may be found on the Grundy County Memorial Hospital website, www.grundycountyhospital.org, 'Get Involved' or by contacting the GCMH Foundation office at 319-824-4152.
