Two foster children of Brent & Robin Stickfort were featured with Ron Steele of KWWL on Channel 7 on Iowa's Child.

Seven young ladies of Grundy Co. will be competing for the title of Grundy Co. Fair Queen.

Mr. & Mrs. Don Moye celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the Boundry Waters Canoe area with their family. They were married Feb. 7, 1954.

Lucille Snow will observe her 92nd birthday on July 25.

John Buhman, 83, Holland, died July 17 at the Grundy Co, Memorial Hospital.

John Dresseen, 92, Reinbeck, died July 15 at Covenant Medical Center.

Leslie Verly, 44, Grundy Center, died July 17 in Independence.

Wahneta Bently, 81, Grundy Center, passed away July 1 at the Grundy Co. Hospital Memorial Hospital.

Cedar Falls Bible Conference will be held July 24-August 1.

Charlotte Ohrt and Eric Butikofer will be married Aug. 7 at the UCC Church in Reinbeck.


JULY 21, 1994

Chuck Freitag is recognized as a professional artist for his illustrations hanging at the Corner Cafe.

Joint funeral services were held for Jeffrey Beenken, 31, and his son, Christopher 7. They were both killed in a car-pickup accident on July 12 in Marshall County.

William J. Gutknecht, 30, Hudson, died July 9 in Glendale, Ariz.

Patty J. Witt & Thomas Striewig were married May 28 at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck.

Jacqueline Juhl and David Harris were married June 25 at the United Church of Christ in Grinnell.

Alice Travis, Parkview Manor, will celebrate her 80th birthday on July 21.


JULY, 1984

Leonard Brubaker won $400 bankroll drawing at Ernie's Super Valu.

Moore Electric has installed Reinbeck's first all channel antenna designed for farm, home and business use.

Rudolph Hook, 76, Grundy Center, died July 17.


JULY, 1974

Alfred Billerbeck escaped serious injury when his auto didn't get stopped soon enough at a railroad crossing.

Tom Lorenz will begin coaching football at Villanova University.

Mr. & Mrs. John Creswell are parents of a daughter born July 27.

Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Rickert are parents of a son born July 22.

One of Reinbeck's homes built in 1883 by Adolph Methfessel was burned to make way for Norman Behrens new home.

Jodee Way & Randy Clarke were married July 20.

Joe Yukl, 79, died July 26 of a heart attack.


JULY, 1964

Reinbeck Jaycees plan a Tractor Pull for August 9.

Bob Isenhower & Charles Wildman of Kelly's have secured the Maytag franchise.

The newly paved Lincoln-Amity road to be opened July 30.

Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Strohbehn are parents of a son born July 24.


JULY, 1954

Henry Malcomson, 91, died July 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Stoddard are parents of a son born July 21.

Leon Hoeg, son of Mrs. Ona Hoeg, was the only Boy Scout from Reinbeck to make the trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.


JULY, 1944

337 workers are detasseling Pioneer Seed Corn with 100 of these being Mexicans.

Harry Wrage, 31, was found dead in his barn on July 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Harold Plaehn are parents of a daughter born July 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Paulsen are parents of a son born July 2.

T/Sgt. Paul Robertson is with the invasion forces somewhere in France.

Kenneth Richter, 17, has enlisted in the US. Navy.
