Ag marketing club meeting to address overcoming the emotions of selling grain

February 5, 2017
Reinbeck Courier

Emotions often limit the ability of farmers to market their corn and soybeans at profitable levels. The Central Iowa Ag Marketing Clubs will feature "Selling Grain Based on a Plan: Not Emotions" Feb. 15 in Conrad, Mid-Iowa Grain Merchandising Office, 209 North Lincoln Street.

All meetings start at 6:30 p.m. The featured speaker will be Chris Barron, a farmer from northeast Iowa. Chris has developed a business model to assist producers and launched Ag View Solutions LLC. By understanding the farm's cost of production and profit margin potential, he applies a simple plan with the mission of improving grain marketing at profitable levels.

Chris will be joined on the program by Ed Kordick, commodity services manager with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. The program will feature real examples of developing market plans for both old and new corn and soybeans.

Club meetings are open to the public and there may be a small fee that can be paid at the door. For further information, please contact the Grundy County Extension Office at (319) 824-6979.
