Grundy County Farm Bureau spurs economic development in the county

March 5, 2017
Reinbeck Courier

The Grundy County Farm Bureau board of directors has been considering options for the use of their building with the knowledge of long term tenant, Orchard Hill Church, constructing their permanent location in Grundy Center. The rental of the Farm Bureau basement and meeting room has provided a place for their congregation to consider 602 8th Street as home for various church needs. While their first service in Grundy Center was in January of 2005 in the theater, their first service in their new facility was February 26th.

In late 2016, IFBF Regional Manager Randy Heitz was asked about the possibility of the board selling or leasing their entire building to an undisclosed company which was considering locating in Grundy County. Following a series of executive board and full board of directors' meetings, a long term agreement was negotiated with Hurley and Associates (www.hurleyandassociates.com/) for the rental of the entire building bringing approximately eight new employees to Grundy Center.

The resulting action has allowed the county Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Financial Services agent Fred Burmester to move to a smaller facility at the nearby office complex at 606 8th Street (the former US Cellular offices) effective February 27th. Members are invited to visit the new offices of our organization.

The Grundy County Farm Bureau appreciates Orchard Hill Church for their presence in the building for the past years and wishes Hurley and Associates much success serving farmers from their new office (effective April 1) in Grundy Center.
