Reinbeck Courier

WATERLOOHawkeye Community College will host artist Naomi B. McCormick, Ph.D., for a gallery talk on Monday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m. in Black Hawk Hall on Hawkeye's Main Campus, 1501 East Orange Road, Waterloo.

The exhibit, Japan: A Visual Journey, is McCormick's first solo exhibition and features drawings and paintings inspired by a month-long trip to Japan with her husband in 2016. McCormick took classes at the junior school of the Art Institute of Chicago as a young woman, but spent her career as a licensed clinical psychologist. Drawing has been a long time hobby, but she began painting when she enrolled in art classes at Hawkeye Community College.

Japan: A Visual Journey is dedicated to Charles Nakamura, a professor at the University of California Los Angeles where McCormick earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1976.

McCormick's works will be on display April 11-May 5 in Black Hawk Hall during regular hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
