APRIL 19, 2007

Steven Nielsen received his 25 year service award for being with the secondary road department.

Central Counties merging with Heartland Coop. They will be Iowa's second largest.

DNR reprimands Grundy Center for being late in reporting sewage discharge report.

Edward Neesen, 43, was charged and plead guilty to voluntary homicide and child endangerment charges. The charge resulted from circumstances surrounding the death of Grundy Center resident, Cinda LaRue who died in Dec. 2006.

Former teacher Christian Ehrhardt had his license suspended for inappropriately touching and flirting with female students over a two year period. He resigned in April 2006.

Danielle Coulter was selected for UNI cheer leading squad.

Austyn Smith, 13, has been selected to represent the U.S. at an International baseball tournament later this year.

Mr. & Mrs. Phillip Johnson, Grundy Center, are parents of a daughter born April 10.

Lonnie Greve, 57, Gladbrook, died April 8 at Covenant Medical Center.

Donald Boss, 86, Cedar Falls, died April 6 at University of Iowa Hospital.


APRIL 17, 1997

Gregg Moser receives award of "Craftsman of the Year" for 96-97.

Earth Day is set for April 22.

Richard Ohrt receives 50 year Masonic certificate and pin.

Kimberly Sweet has been named a U.S. National Award winner in Mathematics.


APRIL 28, 87

Mr. & Mrs. Ross Witt, El Paso, Texas are parents of a daughter born April 13.

Beginning in July the Iowa Electric Light & Power office in Reinbeck will be closed.

Reinbeck Community School will have a new 65 passenger International diesel powered bus with a Bluebird body. The elementary school will have 32 new energy savings windows installed.

The school board officially approved the proposed sharing program with Gladbrook school for three years beginning this fall with the 87-88 school year.

Lilly Bresee, formerly of Reinbeck, died April 14.

Marion Knudsen, 79, Dike, died April 16.


APRIL 28, 1977

David Neil, Sr. Reinbeck and Wallace Getting, Grundy Center were each winners of $300 in the bankroll drawing at Ernie's Super Valu.

Janet Conradi daughter of Melvin & Nancy Conradi, has been nominated by the area 4-H group to enter the competition and seek a state award in dairy.

Charles Goodman & Duane Greany, both of Grundy Center, have been reappointed to their positions as Grundy Co. Magistrates for another two years.

Mr. & Mrs. Phil Ohrt are parents of a daughter born April 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Barry Block are parents of a son born April 21.

Funeral services were held on April 25 for Harvey Schulta who died April 22 at the Grundy Hospital.

Lisa, 14 year old daughter of Wayne & Carol Sedlmayr, received a severe laceration when she accidentally fell through a door at her home. She had 26 stitches to her upper left arm.


APRIL 27, 1967

RCS Board of Education has set May 25 for bond election to build two elementary class rooms. They will also remodel existing high school rooms.

Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Woolsey's Bottle Cap World opens. Proceeds to go to Crippled Children's Fund.

Mr. & Mrs. David Stevens, Washburn, are parents of a daughter born April 24.

Mr. & Mrs. George Hamblin are parents of a daughter born April 17.
