March meeting of the Blackhawk Nighthawks 4H club

April 23, 2017
Reporter Lily Heinzel , Reinbeck Courier

The monthly Blackhawk Nighthawk Club meeting was held on March 20, 2017. Kennedy Brandt led the Pledge of Allegiance. The role call question of the month was, "Share something you did over spring break."

With the Grundy County Omelet Breakfast approaching on March 26th the Club discussed working shifts, supplies and tickets. After the meeting members made muffins for the breakfast with Glenda Billerbeck. After that topic was covered we moved on to other matters. Such as, how much if any money should our club raise for Iowa 4-H Foundation and if to continue our Adopt-a-Garden into this summer. We then discussed what our summer activity should be, we settled on both a club trip to Maquoketa Caves and to Lost Island. As our business came to a close Lily Heinzel led the 4-H Pledge.

Next, there were two presentations. The first one was about horses shared by Lily Heinzel. The second was led by Sadie Brockett assisted by Lily Heinzel with a magnet buddy making activity where club members created their own magnet buddies. While this activity was taking place members split off to make thank you baskets for Reinbeck Elementary which were delivered shortly after the meeting came to a close.

Our next meeting took place on April 9th, 2017. The Grundy County Omelet Breakfast was on March 26th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Members from clubs all over Grundy County will be making omelets and hosting the breakfast. It was very successful and the attendance was better the Blackhawk County's omelet breakfast!
