Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H April meeting

May 7, 2017
Reinbeck Courier

Our monthly meeting was held April 9, 2017, with the roll call question 'What is your favorite spring activity?'. Gwen Sommerfelt led the Pledge of Allegiance. The County Omelet Breakfast was very successful. We also discussed the adopted garden at the park and decided we will continue doing it this year. We were reminded about many upcoming deadlines for County grants as well for Fair. We covered our summer activities and settled on June 30, 2017, for our day trip to Maquoketa Caves State Park. Our Lost Island trip depends on weather and several other factors, so we will wait to fix a date on that. It was the birthday month of Kennedy Brant. Happy Birthday Kennedy! Our May meeting will be a short business meeting followed by helping with the Post Office Food Drive on Saturday, May 13th. We closed with the 4-H Pledge led by Kennedy Brant. Our business meeting was followed by presentations and activities. First, Kennedy Brant gave an interesting & informative presentation on rhinos. Karly Wilhau and Kinzee Hemann led the club through an activity on how to turn T-Shirts into bags to send to Haiti. This was followed by Stella and Lily Heinzel who presented about their new chicks. Finally, we had an activity building a marble maze using Legos.
