Marion Ballard was named "Member of the Year" for the third district of the American Legion Auxiliary spring conference.

Baccalaureate set for May 16 at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook.

David Mueller became a first time blood donor on May 1. He is being sponsored by the National Honor Society.

Holy Family Parish breaks ground for a new 4.5 million church at the intersection of D35 & T55.

Alyssa McGrady Beach, a freshman at G-R, will be among a group of youth missionaries this summer.

Joy Thiel was named "Volunteer of the Year" at Parkview Manor.


MAY 8, 1997

Three LSB staff: Janet Busch, Carol Petersen & Jerry Fannon joined with teachers to bring money savings lessons to the classrooms.

Jessie Clark and Ronald Santi will be married June 21 in Boone.

Henry (Pete) Storjohann, Jr. 80, Gladbrook died May 1 in Marshalltown.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Hoffman are parents of a daughter born April 15.

Rhonda Weber has been awarded a $1,200 two year scholarship by Modern Workmen of America.

Ethel Barfels, 88, Reinbeck, died May 10.

Kenneth Stoehr, 55 Gladbrook, died May 7 at his home of a heart attack.

Jake Miller, 91, Hudson, died May 10.


MAY 19, 1977

Forty-six seniors will participate in Commencement on May 22.

Robertdale Furniture will stage a nine day grand opening beginning May 19.

Mr. & Mrs. Milton Voekler will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on June 4.

Mr. & Mrs. Leo Pieters, Steamboat Rock, former Reinbeck residents, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on May 16.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Keith, 78 were held on May 16.

City Council and Queen of Heaven Church work out final details for the purchase of 2.2 plus acres of land in south Reinbeck to be used as building site for a new water facility.


MAY 18, 1967

Graves Clothing Shop owned by Eva Graves is selling out & quitting business.

Sidney Thede was inducted into the U.S. Army on May 9.

Reinbeck citizens to vote on a $397,000 bond issue for a new gym and several classrooms on May 25.

PCI has rented that Ehlers building for office and shop space.

Reinbeck High school to graduate 48 seniors on May 24.
