June 4, 2017
Submitted by Little Rebel Learning Center , Reinbeck Courier

We appreciate everyone that has donated, in so many different ways, to help with the success of the Little Rebels Learning Center. Our citizens have assisted by:

* Offering your time and labor with our new playground equipment at the Learning Center

* Volunteering your time at the Day Care and Preschool

* Attending our fundraising events and making financial donations

Forward-thinking citizens truly understand the need for a larger Day Care and Preschool. All of your financial contributions, words of encouragement and support are very much appreciated.

According to the US Census Bureau, 75% of families that have children under the age of 6 have both parents working. Those families need access to quality child care programs to care for their children while they are at work. Our Learning Center currently serves 95 families and 132 children. In 2016 we served 44,513 meals. We have served 384 children and 264 families since the doors opened in 2009. Of these 132 children there are 33, two and three-year old's, which will eventually be educated in our preschool. AND yes, there are a handful of children, that don't live in our community, that attend the Day Care, but their parents are employed in our community. They do business locally, which helps our community. The center employees 35 staff currently and have employed 156 total since opening. Of those 156 people, 60 have been high schoolers' first jobs. Clearly the Learning Center is a vital part of this community.

The 2016 - 2017 preschool year ended with 47 students enrolled, and 50 already registered for next year. These are some of the highest enrollment numbers the preschool has ever had. Many of these students need a spot at the Learning Center before and after preschool. There isn't room for all the kids. More space in our Learning Center is a NEED, if we want our school to grow and our community to flourish.

To the Citizens of Reinbeck, please consider attending the City Council meeting on June 5 at 5:30 or contact your council members before then if you are unable to attend. The council will be voting on their decision regarding financially helping with this project. Your attendance and communications will speak loudly that MANY citizens believe in the addition and future of our Little Rebel Learning Center. The G-R school board supports this project and has financially pledged support. Listen to the facts and help our community grow!
