July 4th celebration

Reinbeck's annual July 4th celebration is right around the corner. The July 4th committee is busy planning another great celebration. The celebration kicks off with the annual Dollars for Scholars 5K/Triathlon/Duathlon on Saturday, July 1st. On Monday, July 3rd the movie "Space Jam" will be shown in the park beginning at 8:30 p.m. as well as the annual fireman's dance beginning at 9:00 p.m. Music will be provided by Milk & Honey. We will start the morning of the 4th with the American Legion bake sale at the Memorial Building followed by kid's activities on Main Street big wheel races, crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Reinbeck and the Kiddie Parade. There will be a 7 on 7 football tournament at Elmwood Park at 10:00 a.m. The Grand Parade theme this year is "America's Favorite Pastimes." The parade will start at 1:30. Returning to the park this year are the petting zoo and train ride, the tractor pedal pull, face painting, laser tag, inflatables for all ages including the euro-bungee jumper, a hotdog eating contest, Lion's Club bingo, the car show, the Trunck's Country Foods egg toss and new this year Johnathan Mays Balloon Animals. There will be many vendors and food tents including a beer garden on the tennis courts. This will be our second year for the Corn Hole Tournament at the park, registration starting at 3:00 and the tournament will begin at 4:00. The Izaak Walton League is bringing back the fishing derby this year starting at 8:00 at their pond and they will also host their annual trap shoot at their club house at 4:00. Music will be provided in the park by Route 66 beginning at 7:00. We will draw the winner of the I-Cubs basket raffle (tickets available at LSB) at 7:00 in the park. There will be a synchronized swimming performance at 8:00 at the aquatic center and the day will end with the fireworks and a group Chinese lantern launch sponsored by Angie Buffington. Watch the paper for a complete schedule coming out soon. Schedules will also be available at Lincoln Savings Bank, City Hall, Truncks Country Foods, Moeller & Walter, the library and other businesses around town.
