Dear Editor,

It is hard to imagine Gladbrook taxpayers agreeing to donate $180,000.00 to the Reinbeck daycare expansion effort but that's what they did through the G-R School Board. Yep, at a time when every dollar should count as the G-R student enrollment drops and the school budget is tight, the G-R School Board elected to donate the money. Sure, it came from the Grimm donation to the school but aren't there more urgent things the school needs? Gladbrook taxpayers must have believed the daycare's assertion that the daycare feeds student into the G-R school system and that an expansion needs to be added to what will be a $1,500,000.00 daycare located in Reinbeck. Doesn't Gladbrook have a daycare and shouldn't that daycare receive a like amount? If you are from Gladbrook and this sort of spending is acceptable to you, you need do nothing. If you find this spending unacceptable, let school board members know as well as school administration. After all, doesn't the G in G-R mean sharing with both Gladbrook and Reinbeck?
