Katie Schroeder, 1 1/2 yrs. old, Hudson, was killed when she fell out of the back of a pick-up and was run over by a trailer being pulled behind the vehicle.

A new plumbing firm Hudson Heating & Plumbing, will open at the former Iowa Liquor Store on east Main.

Paula Lovell has been awarded a President's Scholarship at North Iowa Area Community College for the 87-88 year.

George Rohweder, 89, Reinbeck, died on August 8.

Annie Muller, 64, Reinbeck, died August 4.

Aletha Alexander, 72, formerly of Cedar Falls, died August 3.

Harm Hertema, 74, formerly of Beaman, & Gladbrook area, died August 8.

Annette Blong & David Owen were married June 27.

Mr. & Mrs. Harold Robertson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16.

Mr. & Mrs. Adolph Folkerts will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 14.

AUGUST 18, 1977

Curtis Modlin, 29, Cedar Falls, was killed following a three vehicle accident at the railroad crossing on the Zaneta blacktop and three others were injured. Modlin's motorcycle rammed into a pickup that had rear ended a car stopped at a railroad stop sign.

Construction is underway on a large 40x40 warehouse at the Farmers Coop.

Scott Lowe of Moeller & Walter, received a $1,500 award for a energy efficiency home design that could be constructed for under $45,000.

Vernon Klosterboer has been named postmaster in Lincoln.

Wayne Wheeler,66, died August 15 following a lengthy illness.

Mr. & Mrs, Scott Miller are parents of a son born August 12.

Albert Diercks, 82, died August 14 at Beverly Manor.

Hwy #175 is scheduled for widening at an estimated cost of 2.9 million.

Sue Posekany, 17, was named Grundy Co. Fair Queen.

Katherine Jacobs, 90, died August 13.

Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Fogt are parents of a son born August 11.

Ruth Meyer, Reinbeck and Kenneth Krueger were married August 12.

Connie Harvey of Marshalltown & A/2 class Robert Eslinger were married August 5.

A barn fire on the Wendell Giesking farm southwest of Reinbeck destroyed a 45x60 building, several hogs, about 350 bales of straw, hay and an elevator.

Chicago Great Western Railroad to discontinue its agency service at Gladbrook. Gladbrook business will go thru the agency in Lincoln.
