Reinbeck Art Festival has exciting new developments

August 27, 2017
Reinbeck Courier

REINBECK, Iowa When: Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A name change to The Reinbeck Fine Art & Craft Festival means they will welcome a larger variety of fine art and craft vendors. Each artist or craftsperson is still selected through a jury process. Another change is locating the festival primarily outdoors in downtown Reinbeck, with some spots inside city hall, making a cozier group of booths to stroll among. As always, an indoor location is available should there be inclement weather. Due to popular demand, food vendors and a dining tent have been added. Boasting 26 artists, the festival is a great opportunity support local artists working in a variety of media including ceramics, digital art, drawing, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, resin casting, sculpture, watercolor, wood and fiber.

Returning this year, the Midwest Glampers, a retro RV camper group, will show off creative interpretations of "glam camping." Look for a Show and Shine Car Show at the other end of Main Street.

Art activities for kids and a Zendoodle project for ages 10 and up make it easy to get creative. The ever-popular tunes of Kirk Eastman will also be back this year. Local businesses will host wine tastings.

During the festival, patrons can enter a drawing for a gift certificate, "Buy Great Art." Every hour a patron wins a gift certificate for $25.00 for an art purchase.

Broad Street Brewing Company hosts Becktoberfest the same weekend, with a full schedule of fun events and live music at the Brewery. Owner/Brewmaster Trevor Schellhorn is brewing up a beer especially for the art festival. A drawing for a growler of the special brew will be held.

After the festival, patrons are invited to enjoy a free Bluegrass/Gospel concert in Elmwood Park with the Harmans of Shipman, Illinois. The event is from 5:00 to 6:30 with food available. Please bring lawn chairs. It is sponsored by Reinbeck United Methodist Church.

The Reinbeck Fine Art & Craft Festival's Facebook page at is having two drawings for a $10.00 gift certificate. To enter, follow the page to see the post and instructions. The certificate can be used toward an art purchase at the festival. Artist spotlights
