Thank a Vietnam Veteran

Tama County Veterans Affairs will be having a Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Traer Memorial Building. 414 2nd St., Traer, from 1-3 p.m. Tama County has more than 500 Vietnam era veterans.

Veterans Affairs Office will be handing out the "Vietnam War 50th Commemoration A Time to Honor" books to all Vietnam Veterans that were BOOTS ON GROUND or The Vietnam Service Medal individuals. The book contains a special 10-page section devoted to Iowans who have served.

There is no charge to the books however you must bring a copy of your DD214 (separation papers) if you have not been into our office at the Tama County Veterans Affairs Office. One book per eligible Veterans until supplies last.

Also for all Vietnam Era Veterans we will also will be handing out Vietnam Veteran lapel pins. Each living Veteran who served at anytime on active duty in the United States Armed Forces, regardless of location during the period of Nov. 15, 1955 to May 15, 1975 is eligible to receive one lapel pin on behalf of a grateful nation. Again with as supplies last.

After the ceremony on Aug, 26, the books and pins will be available at the Tama County Veterans Affairs office located at 219 W. High Toledo.
