GRUNDY CENTER - What is Metabolic Syndrome, and how can you avoid it?

On Monday, September 18, Grundy County Memorial Hospital will offer a class on Metabolic Syndrome in its free "Just What the Dr. Ordered" series. Health professionals will discuss the health risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome, as well as information on how to lower your risk. The public is invited to attend the free class, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in the hospital's Education Room.

"Safe Sitter" will be offered on Saturday, October 21, 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Students who have completed fifth grade are eligible for the safety and first aid program, which provides young people with the confidence and knowledge to stay home alone safely, or babysit for siblings or other younger children. Life skills such as dealing with emergencies, simple and safe food preparation, and CPR and first aid are taught by trained instructors.

Enroll for either class by emailing, sign up on the hospital's website, or by phoning 319-824-5085. Classes are offered in the hospital's Education Room, which is accessible from the hospital's west Entrance #3.
