The word for this month (at least the first half of it) is 'appreciation.' We have great story time volunteers. On September 5th Dean Staack did the program, and on the 12th, Cheryl Pease was here to do yoga with the kids. The library also received a portion of the proceeds from a concert held on the grounds of the Elms Sept. 14th. That event was arranged by Scott Kramer, activity director at Parkview Manor. Good music was provided by the band Vinyl Frontier, good food was provided by Parkview, and the concert was well attended. Then on September 15th, we received a beautiful case in memory of Beth Dirks. This was given by Bruce and Pattie Bailey, Jo Nelson, Ron Petersen & Dianne Gearhart, Bruce & Cindy High, Donnie & Marcia Palmer, David & Wanda Petersen, Steve & Pam Heithoff. We are using it to display large print books.

We have several recent large print books, two of which are also memorials: The Right Time by Danielle Steel is given in memory of Beth Dirks by Reinbeck Woman's Club. Seeing Red by Sandra Brown is in memory of Donna Cannon from Walt and Connie Miller.

Other new large print include Lost in Lumby by Gail Fraser and The Tiger in the House by Jacqueline Sheehan.

New books in regular print format include:

Young adult: Once Upon a Dream by Liz Brasewell, Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum, Don't Get Caught by Kurt Dinan and The Year We Fell apart by Emily Martin.

Non- fiction: What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Fiction: Robert B. Parker's The Hangman's Sonnet by Reed Farrel Coleman, Enigma by Catherine Coulter, The Romanov Ransom by Clive Cussler, The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld, The Half-drowned King by Linnea Hartsuyker, Proof of Life by J.A. Jance, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David Lagercrantz, You Say it First by Susan Mallery, Enemy of the State by Kyle Mills, Secrets in Death by J.D. Robb, The Right Time by Danielle Steel and Map of the Heart by Susan Wiggs.

New children's books include: Princesses Wear Pants by Savannah Guthrie, and Laugh Out Loud by James Patterson. We also have some new dvds including Baywatch and The Case for Christ.
