Kevin Benson will receive his Eagle Scout Rank of Honor on Oct. 7 with Troop #108 of Dike.

Gussie McIntyre will celebrate her 80th birthday on Oct. 7.

Mr. & Mrs. Hollis Wilkinson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6.

John Gurney, 41, Pa. died recently.

Raynold Goebel, 66, Reinbeck, died Sept. 27 at Covenant Medical Center.

LaVonne Parsons, 78, Grundy Center, died Sept. 26 at the Grundy Co. Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

Judy Hein, 61, Gladbrook, died Sept. 28 at home.

Allen Hospital will host a informational session for students interested in healthcare careers.

Sarah Hicks & Andrew Britt were married August 9 in Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Mr. & Mrs. Burdette Jensen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 1.

Lee Dodd, 83, Grinnell, formerly of Reinbeck, died Sept. 13.

Arnold Pieres, 85, Reinbeck, died Sept. 27 at the Grundy Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Patrick White, Lincoln, are parents of a daughter born Sept. 16.


OCT. 8, 1987

John Meents, 72, Holland, died Oct. 2 after suffering a heart attack.

Tiffany Sternhagen, 11 day old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Sternhagen, died Sept. 29 after having heart surgery for congenital heart disease.

Wm. Huisman, 79, Grundy Center, died Oct. 5.

Mr. & Mrs. Doug Woebbeking are parents of a son born Sept. 30.

Crystal Wulf & Bill Petersen were married Sept. 5.


OCT. 13, 1977

Hoeg & Ames, Lincoln, made a low bid of $26,625 for a new city well in south Reinbeck.

Infrared photos will be taken of area homes & businesses to detect energy waste through heat loss.

Ten windows were broken out at Mitchell's Flower Basket greenhouse by vandals.

City councilmen will receive a pay raise from $8 to $12 for each meeting.

Work continues on Hwy #175. One coat of blacktop cover will be laid before winter.


OCT. 12, 1967

Del Williams has purchased the Reinbeck Motor Co. from Walt Thede.

Reinbeck Comm. School plans a $100,000 bond election on Dec. 7 for additions to the elementary & high school buildings.

Construction is progressing on the new Heithoff Pioneer Pellets feed processing & pellet plant in Reinbeck.

Jan Nissen has been elected as one of the 98 University of Iowa coeds as a trainee for the Scottish Highlanders.

Thomas Folkerts has been promoted to the rank of Sgt. in the U.S. M.C.

Elsye Roberts has opened Club 58 in Morrison serving short orders and dinners.

Otto Dirks, 80, Grundy Center, died Oct. 6.

1st Lt. Philip French received his discharge from the U.S. Army on Oct. 2. He served one year in Vietnam.

Mr. & Mrs. Cordell Petersen are parents of a son born Oct. 2.
