David Mueller, son of Mr. & Mrs. Scott Mueller, has returned home after 5 month mission with trips to North Zealand and northern India.

LeRoy Dew will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house on Feb. 2.

Marion Ballard will celebrate her 80th birthday with a card shower on Feb. 12.

Gladyce Billerbeck, 75, died Jan. 21 at Covenant Medical Center.

Victoria Robinson, 94, Reinbeck, died Jan. 24 at the Hampton Health Care Center.

Wayne Chamberlain, Gladbrook, won an award for excellence in the wedding category.

Evelyn Thede, 82, Reinbeck, died Jan. 25 at Covenant Medical Center.

Calvin Storey, 39, Reinbeck, died Jan. 25 at Allen Hospital.

Wilma Blomgren, 57, Grundy Center, died Jan. 27 at Grundy Care Center.


Feb. 4, 1988

Ruby Palmer observed her 100th birthday on Feb. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Henry Wrage, Reinbeck, will observe their wedding anniversary.

Elsie Petersen, 90, Reinbeck, died Jan. 29.

Sophie Stickfort, 89, Grundy Center, died Jan. 27.


FEB. 9, 1978

Colleen Billerbeck, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Arlyn Billerbeck, was named 1978 Grundy Co. pork queen.

Shari Brunning, 21, Waterloo, was Grundy Co. first fatality killed on Feb. 3 when the car she was driving struck another car and overturned on her. The accident happened 3 miles west on Hwy 175 & 14.

Rickert's D-X has been sold to Danny & Marcia Beenken.

Funeral services for Louise Schwarting, 97, Reinbeck, on Feb. 8.

Ruby Palmer celebrated her 90th birthday on Feb. 1.

Theresa Petersen, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Petersen, died shortly after birth. Services were held Feb. 4.

Reinbeck Lions Club is sponsoring a fund drive for Steve Buhman.

Henry Bieber, 78, died Feb. 1.

Jack Needham retired Feb. 5 from the post office after completing nearly 32 years as a rural carrier for the Reinbeck post office.


FEB. 8, 1968

Reinbeck Boy Scouts mulligan stew dinner to be held on Feb. 10.

Marine first Lt. David Willoughby of Grundy Center has been awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action in Vietnam.

Art Gehringer was taken to Allen Hospital for treatment of respiratory problems.

Lynn Lorenz & Dan Staker were married Feb. 2.

Mr. & Mrs. James Syhlamn, Morrison, are parents of daughter born Feb. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Gene Hultman, Hudson, are parents of a daughter born Feb. 5.

Elmer Cheeseman, 85, died Jan. 17.

Seaman Dennis Sivertsen, Hudson, has reported for duty abroad attack aircraft carrier U.S.S.

Ticonderoga at San Diego.

Airman Duane Dodd, Reinbeck, graduated from U.S. Air Force Tech School at Lowry, AFB, CO.

Seaman Dennis R. Hammer has returned to Yankee Station off the coast of Vietnam.
