Hawkeye Community College to host the True Black History Museum on Feb. 7

WATERLOOHawkeye Community College will host the True Black History Museum on Wednesday, February 7, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. in the Brock Student Center on Hawkeye's Main Campus, 1501 E. Orange Road, Waterloo.

The True Black History Museum is a traveling Black history exhibit including rare and authentic artifacts from the late 1700s through today. The collection was established to preserve the history of Black people and to educate others on the many great contributions that Black people have made to mankind. Artifacts range from the many great civilizations in Africa, through the mid-Atlantic save trade, slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, the Civil Rights and Black Power movements, up to modern day.

Museum curator Fred Saffold will give a presentation on the unique exhibit at 12:00 p.m., followed by a question and answer session. There is no cost to attend and it is open to the public.
