GRUNDY CENTER - Local students pursuing careers in health care are the recipients of $14,500 in scholarships awarded by the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Ten students received the 2018 awards, including Gladbrook Reinbeck graduate Lauren Husmann, who was awarded the Irene A. Stout Family Health Care Scholarship. Husmann is presently enrolled in the nursing program at Hawkeye Community College, and is pictured with hospital Foundation board member Jan Ehrig of Reinbeck, at right. Students in various health care career programs, including nursing, therapy, pharmacy, and radiologic and lab technology, are eligible to apply for the scholarships if they graduated from high school or work in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital service area of Grundy, Tama, Butler, and Hardin counties. The financial awards are made possible each year by generous gifts from the Sara Lee Yoder estate, Don and Susie Kliebenstein family, and the Irene A. Stout estate. Applications are available annually in March, with awards made each August. More information may be found at
