10 YEARS AGO Kelly Brockett received a certificate of providing the artwork that appeared in the June From Farm to You Calendar that was distributed by IA. Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship at the Iowa State Fair. Mr.& Mrs. Bill DeWolf will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7. Mike Staker, 66, Reinbeck, died Aug. 27 at Allen Hospital. Carol Stone, 73, Reinbeck, died August 31 at Parkview Manor. John Schreck was inducted into Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame on August 17. 20 YEARS AGO SEPT. 3, 1998 Two Reinbeck girls, Laura Poppen & Ann Tedore, were featured in the July issue of Pacific Stars & Stripes Magazine where they served as summer camp counselors. Mr. & Mrs. Allan Neal, Stewart,, IA. are parents of a daughter born August 29. Charles Anderson, 81, Charles City, formerly of Reinbeck, died August 29. Claus Hein, 97, Gladbrook, died August 28 at the Grundy Hospital. Carol Burton, 82, Grundy Center, died August 29 at the Grundy Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Thede will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 18. Carla Heims and Spencer Weeks will be married Sept. 25. Tammi Sickel & Chad Walter will be married Sept. 18. 30 YEARS AGO SEPTEMBER 1, 1988 Mr. & Mrs. Ron Mumm are parents of a daughter born August 22. Tamara Rickert & David Geer were married August 20. Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Thede will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept 10. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Stoakes were honored for their 40th wedding anniversary on August 21. Joy Sexton, 64, Reinbeck, died August 25 of heart failure. 40 YEARS AGO SEPT. 7, 1978 Reinbeck School Board election to be held on Sept. 12. Reinbeck has two positions open with Judy Hilt, Harold Petersen & Jared Owen are running for the opening. Funeral services for Helen Thiel, 79, Reinbeck, were held on Sept. 7. Reinbeck Rams football team to open season against Grundy Center. Darlene Burns & Greg Miller, both of Reinbeck, were married August 9. Mr. & Mrs. Martin Dufel to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 17. Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Murphy will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11. 50 YEARS AGO SEPT. 5, 1968 City council adopts curfew ordinance #509. Ralph “Toby” Falway will spend the winter at Toledo where he will live at the Tama County Farm. Army Pvt. Greg Brandt, 20, completed nine weeks of advanced Infantry training at Fort Gordon, GA. RD 3/C Jack McIntrye arrived home after serving three years in the U,S. Navy. Cervetti Construction Co. began work on the new addition to the Reinbeck Elementary School and High School Building. Ona Collins, 80, died Sept. 2. George Schiller, Sr. 73, Grundy Center, died at Allen Hospital. Herman Wieben fractured his left heel while working at the Glen Hockemeyer farm. Mrs. Charles Shearn purchased the Koffee Corner restaurant and Rickert’s D-X from Bob Stephan. Mr. & Mrs. Merle Draper are parents of a daughter born Sept. 1.
