Reinbeck Auxiliary

September 6, 2018
Reinbeck Courier
Who are we and what do we really do???? We are the Reinbeck American Legion Auxiliary Unit #242 and we are a part of an organization that for almost 75 years has served our Veterans and our community. We answer the call to organize community blood drives, volunteer at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, make funds available for needy veterans and families of active service members, educate youth on citizenship, fund Girl State Candidates, provide supplies for homeless Veterans in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area, hold a Poppy campaign in the community and honor deceased veterans by placing a poppy on each veterans grave on Memorial Day. These are all SMALL things that send the important message that SERVICE matters. Without our military, our United States of American would not have the freedom that we enjoy every day and often take for granted. Who can join? You can be a member of the Auxiliary if you have a current blood relative who is a member of the American Legion, if you are a female who served in the military during a war or conflict, or if you are a blood relative of a deceased veteran who served during a war or conflict. Applications can be found on line at Iowa Department of American Legion Auxiliary or can be obtained from any current Auxiliary member or contact Brenda Davis at 319-240-5853. You don’t realize how some small thing you do today can mean so much to someone else now or in their future.
