Reinbeck Fine Art and Craft Festival

September 27, 2018
Reinbeck Courier

The Reinbeck Fine Art and Craft Festival, along with the Show and Shine Car Show is now history for 2018.. But, there are still memories! The day was absolutely perfect for a Festival and a Car Show. The sun was shining, there was a bit of a breeze and the temperature was that of a warm and wonderful autumn day. There were 34 registered artists and crafters, which was up from 27 last year. This juried show had some spectacular fine arts and crafts for sale. The crowd seemed to be buying for themselves as well as for gifts. The Glampers not only shared their delightfully decorated campers, but three were also successful vendors. The cars, the cars, oh what glorious cars and trucks! We had a total of 29 vehicles, which included one treasured motorcycle. Live music filled the streets from 9 to 4. The shoppers and vendors were often seen "walk dancing" or singing along with the musicians. There were special booths to enjoy as well; the photo booth, the Loony Balloons, and the Children's art activity tent. Steve Schroeder, a well-known artist, donated several original pieces of his art to raise money for our local festival. His donation was truly a gift to us! (There will be a few more pieces to be sold next year as well). The Lion's Club sponsored a duck race. The ducks were released at 4pm to float down Black Hawk Street with Jane Johnson having the winning duck! It is heartwarming to have so many willing volunteers who help make this festival possible every year. (Many of our volunteers help every year. They get better and more efficient every year)! Reinbeck was the place to be on Saturday: a volleyball tournament, great food at all of our eateries, the brewery and bars were open, there were 4 soccer games, free Gospel and Bluegrass Concerts in the park in the late afternoon, and the Art Festival and Car Show from 9 to 4. Mark your calendars now for Sept. 21, 2019 to be in Reinbeck for the next Festival and car Show which promises to have all of the above plus more vendors, more vehicles, and an added event or two!
