10 YEARS AGO 11/13/08 Cedar Valley Hospice is holding a soup & salad luncheon fundraiser on Nov. 22 at the Grundy Center Methodist Ch. RCTC Yellow Jackets take 3rd place at Nationals. Jeralyn School of Dance holds Halloween party. Open house at St. Gabriel’s Church to begin Sunday, Nov. 15. Mike & Sheryl Campbell will be performing at the Traer Library Nov. 15. Rebels rocked by the #2 Emmetsburg.

20 YEARS AGO NOV. 12 1998 Miracle on Main scheduled for Nov. 13. Alvin Wiese, 83, Gladbrook, died Nov. 4 at the Marshalltown surgical Center. Evelyn Scott, 81, Lincoln, died Nov. 5. at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Paul Coulson, 82, Grundy Center, died Nov. 5. Gwen Cheney, 94, Grundy Center, died Nov. 7 at the Grundy Care Center. Harriett Borchers, 89, Grundy Center, died Nov. 7 Jean Hawkins, 84, Reinbeck, died Nov. 9 at Parkview Manor. Mr, & Mrs. Ken Reisinger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 15. Charlotte Ohrt is a member of the 1989-99 Hawkeye Marching Band at the Un. of Iowa band. Brenda Peitzman & Eldon Giesking, Jr., will be married on Nov. 21. 30 YEARS AGO NOV. 17, 1988 The Reinbeck Fire Department set fire to several old buildings at Pioneer. Hazel Hickson, 89, Reinbeck died Nov. 9 following a heart attack. Brenda Kielly & Greg Snider were married on Oct. 22. Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Didio will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 24. 40 YEARS AGO NOV. 23, 1978 Reinbeck Chamber of Commerce plans annual Community Lighting Contest. Funeral services for Marion Linder, 56, were held Nov. 22. New perpetual Savings & Loan building is receiving final touches for its grand opening the weeks of Dec. 4-15. 50 YEARS AGO NOV. 21, 1968 Mrs. Carol Smith, 19, of Gladbrook, was killed in a two car accident in Cedar Falls on Nov. 16. Officer Geo. Studyvin, 47, was dismissed of his duties because he deserted his job and without giving notice to the Mayor and others. Jim Denning has secured a chevy motor care franchise and has purchased the Gehringer chevy dealer from Art Gehringer. Pearl Schlicht, 66, died at Schoitz Hospital. Mrs. Ed Horning, 71, died at her home. The town council has made a firm bid of $3,600 for the Cora White residence on Broad St.. This property will be razed and used for a parking lot. Mr. & Mrs. Richard Eiffler are parents of a son born Mr. & Mrs. Robert Cooper are parents of a daughter born Nov. 17. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Cooper are parents of son born Nov. 18. Clara Engelkes, 81,died Nov. 17. Wm. Brubaker, 86, died Nov. 14 in a Waterloo Nursing Home.
