Rebels can’t keep pace with Janesville REINBECK — The Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls basketball team fell to Class 1A No. 7 Janesville on Thursday, 69-51. The Rebels (3-6) only trailed by one point to the Wildcats (8-1) after the first quarter, but Janesville would outscore G-R 27-11 in the secod quarter to take a 41-24 lead at halftime. Taylor Gienger had a team-high 20 points and eight steals for the Rebels, while Reagan Skovgard followed with 15 points and two steals. Belen Ellenberger had nine points and a team-high five rebounds.

Kiburis helps Rebels outlast Janesville REINBECK — Gladbrook-Reinbeck senior Jackson Kiburis scored a career-high 30 points — 23 of them in the second half — as the Rebels defeated Janesville 63-53 in Thursday’s non-conference clash. Kiburis went 12-for-12 from the free-throw line, including 8-for-8 in the fourth quarter as the Rebels overcame a shortlived four-point lead for Janesville in the third quarter. Tyler Tscherter added 19 points for the Rebels (4-2), and Dylan Riffey added six points off the bench as G-R logged its third-straight win with a victory in its first non-conference game of the season. Codey Hicks scored 27 points to pace Janesville (7-2), which saw its four-game win streak stopped. Caden Conrad added 10 points and Spencer Hoff had nine for the Wildcats.
