10 YEARS AGO SEPT. 17. 2009 Robin Greve and Matt Moore plan wedding for Oct. 24 at the United Methodist Church. Lori Iezek & Andrew Turnbull announce they will be married in Las Vegas on Nov. 27. Megan Stull and Kevin Deeny announce their upcoming wedding at Lake Okoboji in Oct. Bethany Thompson and Blair Murty plan a wedding for Oct. 17. Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging is seeking board members. 20 YEARS AGO SEPT. 16, 1999 REC members name Earl Slinker to a one year term and Larry Rohach & Don McLean to three year terms. Sherri Denbow, Randy McGrady-Beach & Gary Stanley got elected to G-R school Board. William Rickert, Reinbeck, was one of 275 Iowa family farms honored for being a Century Farm. Jeff & Bonnie Rickert accepted the award. Tena Everts. 85, Parkersburg, died Sept 8 at Aplington Care Center. Mr. & Mrs. John Moore celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 18. Julie Thorne & Russell Freese were married July 24 in Parkersburg. Viola Lovell will celebrate her 99th birthday with a card shower on Sept. 17 Elsie Hoppe, Lincoln, will celebrate her 90th on Sept. 21. 30 YEARS AGO SEPT. 28,1989 The farm of Fred Strohbehn was honored as a Century Farm. Tamara DeVries and Rodney Greiner were married Sept. 1. Mr. & Mrs. Don Rhoades celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 7. Ingeborg Modlin. 96, Grundy Center, died Sept. 20. Mr. & Mrs. Adam Staker are parents of a son born Sept. 23. Bret Lauterbach and Ellen Robertson were crowned King & Queen at the Homecoming game. 40 YEARS AGO OCT. 4, 1979 Roger DeWolf received his 50 year Mason certificate from the Coin Lodge of Iowa at a special ceremony in his honor. Pam Billerbeck & Craig Willer were married Sept. 8. Marcia Strohben, Reinbeck and Kenneth Bern were married Sept. 22. Angle Tierman, Stuart, & Jerry Buskohl, Lincoln, were married Sept. 10. 50 YEARS AGO OCT. 2, 1969 Maurine Stewart, Dike, & Walt Folkerts were both seriously injured in a car-truck accident five miles east of Reinbeck on Hwy #175. Vernon Sloth, 51, Dike was killed in a tractor accident at the Dike cemetery where he was working on Sept. 29. Loyd Plaehn, Ray Bonacker, Willis Plaehn and Rudy Paustin completed restoration of the Frei Cemetery. Six Scouts received Star Rank held at a Court of Honor. They were Mike Stephan, Jim Rickert, Craig Jensen, Jim Creswell, Dan Tschirgi and Betty Kirk.
