10 YEARS AGO OCT. 29, 09 Steve Barnes Scholarship to aid G-R students who enroll at Luther College. Mr. & Mrs. Gary Thede will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary at a later date with a family trip. Farrah Meester & Jason Arnold were married August 1 at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in Wellsburg Hilda Kucerants will be celebrating her 80th birthday with a card shower. William Koch, 98, Reinbeck, died Oct. 20 at Parkview Manor. Martha Wrage McKenna, 93, Waterloo, died Oct. 19. Curt Ramundt received his 15 year service award where he is employed as a tandem truck driver with the secondary road dept. John Freese received his 20 year service award & Mike Steinmeyer received his 10 year service award. 20 YEARS AGO OCT. 28, 1999 Harry Cooley receives service certificate from Ken Kenyon of Reinbeck action Post #242. Mr. & Mrs. Ben Goos, Gladbrook, adopted 2 brothers from Romania. Albert Porter, 83, died Oct. 25 at Allen Hospital. Grace Kruger, 79, died Oct. 20 at Grundy Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Marc Murphy are parents of a son born Oct. 23. Amy Breed & Torrell Rhoades plan wedding for Nov, 27, 30 YEARS AGO NOV. 9, 1989 Mr. & Mrs. Ed Harms observed their 40th wedding anniversary on Nov. 15. G-R high school presented “Grease” on Nov. 17 & 18. Mary Bouska celebrated her 80th birthday on Nov. 5. Deb Hite & Lee Rhoades were married on Oct. 14 in Grundy Center. Denise Volbrock & Grant Schildroth were married in Waterloo on Sept. 9. Anna Storjohann, 79, died Nov. 2 following surgery. Edith Weseman, 61, Grundy Center, died Nov. 2 of a sudden illness.

40 YEARS AGO NOV. 15, 1979 Members of Reinbeck Fire Dept. demonstrated the use of Jaws of Life. Rev. John Syster, pastor at UCC Church will leave Reinbeck in early Jan. to go to Daytona Beach, FL. Kathryn Koob is one of hostages being held by the Iranian government. 50 YEARS AGO NOV. 13. 1969 Clarence Claussen, 64, died Nov. 8. Kendall Harms, 10, narrowly escaped fatal injury in a hunting accident. His 410 shotgun fired as he climbed into a pickup striking him on the left arm. Judith Benson & Kenneth Knapp were married Oct. 25. Anna Kroeger, 69, died Nov. 5 at Maple Manor in Aplington. Beth Feller and Robert Thompson were recently married. Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Lockwood are parents of a son born Nov. 4.
