10 Years Ago Feb. 18, 2010 Dr. K.R. and Mrs Storjohann traveled to Des Moines to talk to their legislator, Senator Tim Kapucian. The annual jazz show will be presented Feb. 26 and again on Sunday, Feb. 28. Angie Thesing has recently joined P. S. B. Realty in Dike. LouAnn Moore will be celebrating her 80th birthday on Feb. 21. In celebration of one hundred days of school, the kindergarten, first and second grade,worked together to make one hundred valentines for the veterans. 20 Years Ago Feb. 17,2000 Plans are being finalized for Westview Estates to open. LSB opens two offices in Black Hawk County in Cedar Falls and Hudson. Margaret Hellman 69 of Grundy Center died Feb. 9 at the Grundy Center Care Center. Randall Pabst 39 of Parkersburg died Feb. 10 at home. Cynthia Burch and Barry Eggers were married on Nov. 27 at Peace Church in Gladbrook. Bobbi Storey and Travis Schaben will be married on March 8 in Des Moines. 30 Years Ago. March 1, 1990. Brian Dostal represented Gladbrook-Reinbeck at the State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines on Feb. 22 at 103 lbs. Irene Junge celebrated her 90th birthday on March 11. Edna Wyatt 78 died at Parkview on Feb. 22. Sheresa Lynch, a sophomore, was voted to the second team All Big Iowa for her basketball performance. Paul Lovell, Reinbeck, is a member of the 1990 Central College men’s track team. 40 Years Ago March 6, 1980. Irene Ehlers, 95, died March 3rd at Parkview. Reinbeck JayCees made a one thousand dollar donation to the Fire Department to help with the purchase of new radio equipment. A Wellsburg shooting remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff. Curtis Benning was found dead at a neighbor’s farm five miles north of Wellsburg. Mike Molstead signed a Letter of Intent at Morningside College to play football where he will be kicker-punter. Mr and Mrs Randy Eckhoff are parents of a daughter born March 2. Mr and Mrs Craig Schildroth are parents of a son born Feb. 26. 50 years ago. March 5, 1970. Grundy County District Court Judge Geo. Heath handed down a decision in favor of the heirs of the Emma Runft Estate. The Judge set the sale of 100 acres of land to John R. and Betty Shoup aside.The Shoups were the high bidders at $728 per acre. Private First Class Thomas Porter, 21, grandson of Mrs Harris Porter has been reported killed in combat on Feb. 20 in Viet Nam. Mr and Mrs Frank Wyatt are parents of a son born Feb 24.
